Meta-analysis of mental health of Chinese fire fighters

Abstract: [Objective] To evaluate the mental health status of fire fighters based on SCL-90 in China,and provide reference for their mental health education.[Methods] A computerized literature search was carried out in the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI),Chinese biomedical journal database (CBM),Wanfang database,VIP database (VIP),PubMed database.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,the articles were screened,and the do the valid data was evaluated by meta-analysis.[Results] Finally,20 studies and 4 169 samples were included in this analysis.The results showed statistically significant differences between the fire fighters and Chinese adult norm were somatization,paranoid and psychosis (P<0.05).The difference of the scores of all factors between the fire fighters and Chinese adult norm is not significant (P>0.05),except for the western region.But the difference of the scores of somatization,compulsion,anxiety,hostility,phobia,paranoid and psychosis between the fire fighters and Chinese adult norm was significant in the western region(P<0.05).[Conclusion] The mental health status of fire fighters in China is good,but the level of mental health of fire fighters in the western region is worse than the general population.
