Journal: Neural Injury and Functional Reconstruction

Abstract: Objective:To investigate the clinical efficacy of triple antiplatelet therapy to prevent the ischemic incidence after stent-assisted coil embolization.Methods:Ninety-six patients with intracranial aneurysm who underwent the stent-assisted coil embolization were enrolled and randomly divided into dual antiplatelet therapy group and triple antiplatelet therapy group with 48 cases in each group. The patients in the both groups received preoperative dual or triple stent-assisted coil embolization, respectively. The incidence of ischemic and bleeding events and the adverse effects during 5 months after the operation were recorded. Results:The incidence rate of ischemic events in the dual antiplatelet therapy group was significantly higher than that in the triple antiplatelet therapy group (P=0.04).The difference of bleeding events between the 2 groups was not statistically significant (P=0.31).Conclusion:Compared with dual antiplatelet therapy, the triple antiplatelet therapy can prevent the occurrence of the ischemic events after stent-assisted coil embolization more efficiently.
