Abstract: "Heteroresistance" describes a phenomenon where subpopulations of seemingly isogenic bacteria exhibit a range of susceptibilities to a particular antibiotic.Heteroresistance in Acinetobacter baumannii displays where subpopulations grew from 3 to 10μg/mL colistin while the culture's MIC ranged from 0.25 to 2μg/mL.This article reviews the definition,detection methods,clinical significance and control strategies by comparing heteroresistance.
