Abstract: We study the spatial spillover effect on the urban‐rural income gap from financial develop‐ment by using the panel data of 286 prefecture level cities in China from 2003 to 2013 and spatial data model .The results show that the urban‐rural income gap not only exists significant spatial agglomer‐ation and spillovers effect ,but also show s low value agglomeration in the eastern and high value ag‐glomeration in the western ;The urban‐rural income gap will be affected not only by the level of fi‐nancial development in the region ,but also the neighboring areas ;There is inverted “U” relationship between the urban‐rural income gap and financial development scale and financial development efficien‐cy ,it will help ease the urban‐rural income gap when the financial development scale and the efficien‐cy of financial development reach a certain level in the long run .
