Complete genomes sequencing analysis of the new-type duck reovirus of XX strain

Abstract: A virus was isolated from the suspected new-type duck reovirus (NDRV) infected duck clinical samples, named DRV-XX strain, in Xinxing area of Guangdong region. The whole genomic sequences of 10 segments of the isolate were amplified by RT-PCR and sequenced, which was total 23,419bp in length. The virus belonged to the NDRV compared with that the NDRV reference strains with high similarity up to 99%, and lower similarity to the avian reovirus (ARV) and Muscovy duck reovirus (MDRV) by blast comparison analysis. The genetic evolution analysis showed that the DRV-XX and MDRV classified into the same branch based on S3, S1, S2, S4, M1, M3 and L1 genes. However, DRV-XX and ARV were in another branch according to M2 genes. Moreover, the DRV-XX, ARV and MDRV formed into an independent branch, when compared with the L2 and L3 genes. According to these results, the genomic segments of the DRV-XX were consisted from ARV and with MDRV, probably, due to synonymous mutations in ARV and MDRV or genetic recombination. These data provided the virus evolution information and reference for NDRV prevention in Guangdong regoin.
