Ecology and Biological Effects of Biodegradable Film Mulching on Cotton Field

Abstract: Taking biodegradable film that provided by Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science as material, and normal plastic film as control,the effects of them on cotton growth was compared. The results showed that,compared with normal plastic film,biodegradable film could significantly improve the soil temperature and regulate the soil moisture,and had obvious effect on promoting early maturity and increasing yield. The effect of biodegradable film-A on increasing yield was more significant than normal plastic film in two years test. But biodegradable film-A had some disadvantages,e.g.,low toughness, breakable,short life and short duration of weed controlled.
