Abstract: From ecosystem stability and disturbance index, the index system for ecological environment quality in mining ar-eas was established and modified to obtain the weight of each index by the analytic hierarchy process and entropy technolo-gy, accordingly the evaluation model and evaluation standard of ecological quality in large mining areas were proposed, and then taking Huainan coal mining area as an example, using RS and GIS technologies to analyze the ecological environment quality changes of Huainan mining area in last 30 years. The results showed that the ecological environment quality in Huainan coal mining area still declined mainly due to the rapid growth of urbanization, accelerated speed of coal mining, not timely environmental protection, secondary collapse in reclamation areas, and low governance standards, etc.
