Abstract: Five elements involved in the run-out table cooling process, that were hot-rolled strip, table roll, valve of spraying header, cooling agent and instrument, were highlighted from the object-oriented view. The heat transfer process of the hot strip and the controlling process of water flow and coiling temperature were firstly analyzed, then decomposed and finally presented by different classes. The hierarchy of the classes was designed by the object-oriented method and objects from the classes were also created according to the trigger logic of coiling temperature control(CTC)model developed by C++ program language. The compute time for each setup of the CTC model based on the finite difference method(FDM)was short enough to meet the requirement of the on-line calculation. The CTC model had good portability and expandability. The on-site application of the object-oriented CTC model showed that the cooling control system can be steady in operation, the model setup was accurate and the coiling temperature along the whole strip length can be controlled very well.
