Effect of continual nursing intervention on quality of life of patients with bladder stoma after bladder cancer operation

Abstract: Objective:To explore the effect of continuous nursing intervention on the quality of life of patients with bladder stoma after bladder cancer surgery. Methods:Selected 60 patients with total cystectomy operation in our hospital from January 2014 to December 2015 and divided them into observation group and control group. The patients in the control group were followed up by routine nursing, and the patients in the observation group were treated with continu-ous nursing intervention on the basis of routine nursing. The knowledge of bladder stoma related to health, such as dietary knowledge, complication preven-tion, pouch replacement, self-test and activity program were compared between the two groups. At the time of discharge and 6 and 12 months after the dis-charge, the quality of life of the two groups were assessed by the comprehensive quality of life scale, and the social support of the two groups of patients were assessed by social support rating scale. Results:The master of health knowledge of related to bladder stoma such as diet knowledge, prevention of complica-tions and ostomy bag replacement in the observation group was better than that in the control group (P<0. 05). At the 6th month and 12th month after dis-charge, scores of function in the questionnaire of the two groups increase (P<0. 05). The scores of the symptom scale of the two groups decreased (P<0. 05). The functional scale of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0. 05). The scores of symptom scale of the ob-servation group were lower than those of control group (P<0. 05). The total score of social support in the observation group was higher than that in the con-trol group (P<0. 05). Conclusion: Continual nursing can improve the self-care ability of patients with bladder stoma after bladder cancer operation and their psychological and physical conditions. It can improve the social support and quality of life of the patients. Therefore it has a crucial value to the reha-bilitation of bladder stoma patients after bladder cancer surgery.
