Numerical Calculation of Radial Distributions of Energy Density and Helicon Wave Field in Steady Cylindrical Plasma

Abstract: The distributions of the energy density and helicon wave field were analyzed by numerical calculation. The impact of the static axial magentic field( B0) and radial electron density( ne) on the radial distributions of the electric field and energy of the right-and left-hand helicon waves was investigated. The calculated resutls show that the axial magentic field and radial electron density strongly affect the distributions. To be specific,in 2× 10-2 9 × 10-2T and 1 × 1013 9 × 1013m-3ranges,as B0 increased,the field amplitue of LH-wave and RHwave decreased and increased,respectively,accompanied by decreases of their radial energy amplitudes; whereas as n0 increased,the field amplitue of RH-wave and LH-wave increased and decreased,respectively,accompanied by incrreases of their radial energy amplitudes. The energy of LH-wave and RH-wave peaked at 0. 2 r and 0. 0 r,respectively; the field amplitude and energy density of LH-wave dominated around the axis( at 10-2T and 1013cm-3).
