Abstract: Used melamine and formaldehyde as raw materials, according to situ polymerization method, melamine-formaldehyde resin(MF) microencapsulated ammonium polyphosphate is prepared; use sol-gel method to prepare silicone gel microencapsulated ammonium polyphosphate. Through IR and SEM image, the coating effect is tested. Two microencapsulated APP are added to the polyurethane foam respectively. Then flame retardant properties of the foam are studied through oxygen index and vertical burning experiment; Compressive strength is tested by universal testing machine, through which we can study its mechanical properties. The best addition of microcapsule ammonium polyphosphate is obtained through the comparison of the experimental results. The conclude is that microcapsules APP can improve flame retardant properties. When the dosage is 30 %, the oxygen index of MAPP/PU is 30, the fire rate reaches V-0 and compression performance 50.5 Kpa. When the adding of MCAPP is 25 %, MCAPP/PU oxygen index is 28, the fire rate reaches V-0 and compression performance 57.7 Kpa.
