Abstract: Wind power as a renewable energy power generation in the power grid has been increased year by year. However due to the randomness, volatility and intermittency, the characteristics of wind have adverse impacts on safe and stable operation of grid. At the same time, energy storage technology has also been developing in recent years, whose rapidity and large-scale throughput can make up for the negative impact of wind turbine operation. Firstly, this paper analyses the output characteristics of wind power and energy storage system. Secondly, we apply the inertia of energy storage technology compensation system for the problem that wind power does not have the inertia during frequency fluctuation;use the frequency rate of change as the feedback input and adjust the inertia constant K. The wind storage combined system as a whole part provides active power to participate in the frequency adjustment of grid. Thirdly,we use Matlab/Simulink simulation to verify the proposed control strategy compensating for system inertia. Finally, compared with wind turbines participating in power grid frequency modulation in the simulation diagram, the superiority that wind storage combined system involved in power grid frequency modulation is proved.
