Abstract: To explore the effect of Yimusan on the delivery capacity of parturient sows,80 parturient Landrace sows were randomly divided into the control group and the low-,medium-and high-dose Yimusan groups. An ELISA method was used to detect the contents of serum oxytocin(OT) and prostaglandin E2(PGE2) before delivery, and the stage of labor, stillbirth rate, and the average litter size were also counted. The results showed that compared with the control group, the stages of labor in the medium-and high-dose Yimusan groups were extremely significantly shortened(P < 0. 01),and the stillbirth rate was significantly reduced(P < 0. 05),and the rate of healthy piglets was significantly increased(P < 0. 05); there were no significant differences(P > 0. 05) in the average litter size, mummy rate and weak litter size in the three doses of Yimusan groups compared with the control group. The contents of OT and PGE2 in the medium-and high-dose Yimusan groups were significantly increased(P < 0. 05) compared with the control group, respectively. The results indicate that Yimusan has a significant role in promoting the delivery capacity of parturient sows.
