Abstract: In order to study liquid dielectric’s discharge mechanism and tolerance characteristics under the flow state, and to perfect the liquid dielectric discharge theory, a liquid dielectric discharge experimental platform is constructed which can simulate discharge under different floating races, temperatures, particle types, and contents. The platform’s operational principles and parameter selections are introduced. The platform can simulate partial discharge generated by various floating particulate impurities and can study their tolerance characteristics and influential factors. It can acquire discharge information under different test voltages, insulating oil races, and oil temperatures. Preliminary test results show that the insulation performance of the oil increases when the flow rate increases or oil temperature increases, and the breakdown voltage of insulating oil rises by 3~5 kV than that under flow state. The breakdown voltage is reduced by 12 kV when bubble contents increase. The platform can lay the foundation for the establishment of theories on liquid dielectric discharge under the flow state.
