Methods In accordance with the method of cluster sampling, salt samples were collected 2700 households,180villages and 45 townships in non-iodized areas to conduct quantitative detection on edible salt iodine content.Urine samples of children were collected with the Probability Proportionate to Size Sampling(PPS)to analyze the result of urinary iodine. Results A total of 2 700 samples of household salt were monitored, the iodized salt coverage rate was 98.74%,The qualified rate of iodized salt was 96.88%.the rate of qualified iodized salt consumption was95.67%.The urinary iodine median of 8-10year-old children was 187.90ug/L,the values of urinary iodine were positive skewness distribution. The urinary iodine median of schoolboys was 198.80ug/L.but the urinary iodine median of schoolgirls was 181.80 ug/L,with statistical differences in gender(P <0.01).The urinary iodine median of pupils was182.60ug/L in urban areas, and 198.70ug/L in rural areas,(P <0.01).
