Abstract: Two types of modified cyclosiloxanes with different concentrations of phenyl pendant group were prepared by methyldiphenylsilane ( MePh2 SiH ) modifying tetramethyl-tetravinylcyclotetrasiloxane(D4vi), the structures of modified cyclosiloxanes were char-acterized by nuclear magnetic resonance spectrosco-py, and the effects of modified cycloysilo-xanes on the damping property and mechanical properties of silicone rubber were investigated. The results showed that the prepared two types of modified cy-closiloxanes were the products of hydrosilylation re-action between three vinyl groups in D4 vi or D4 vi and MePh2 SiH. The introduction of modified cyclosilox-ane increased the damping property of silicone rub-ber, and the more the bulky groups in the modified cyclosiloxanes, the better the damping property of silicone rubber. The introduction of modified cy-closiloxanes with active vinyl group improved me-chanical properties of silicone rubber, but the modi-fied cyclosiloxanes with giant steric hindrance group and without vinyl group exhibited negative effect.
