Study on welding cold cracking sensitivity of X100 pipeline steel

Abstract: The cold cracking sensitivity of X100 pipeline steel HAZ were studied by using implant test and the highest hardness of HAZ. The result indicated that in the case of no preheating, the critical fracture stress σcrwas 740 MPa, which was greater than the yield strength Rt0.5( 763 MPa), the maximum hardness value was HV10281.2,which was lower than the critical hardness value of HV10350. The fracture characteristics was mixed fracture including toughening test and part of the cleavage, X100 pipeline steel was insensitive to cold cracking. When put preheating50 ℃, the critical fracture stress σcrwas 800 MPa, comparing with no preheating, the cold crack resistance had enhanced. By put preheating, it could improve the sensitivity of cold cracking.
