Abstract: Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture at extraordinary acupoints in treating refractory central eructation.Method Seventy-four patients with refractory central eructation were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 37 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened majorly by acupuncture at extraordinary acupoints, while the control group was by muscular injection of Metoclopramide Dihydrochloride Injection plus Chlorpromazine Hydrochloride Injection. The clinical efficacies and eructation symptom scores before and after treatment were compared.Result The total effective rate and recovery rate were respectively 94.6% and 81.1% in the treatment group, versus 62.2% and 29.7% in the control group, and the between-group differences were statistically significant (P<0.01). After 3 d and 5 d treatments, the eructation symptoms scores were markedly changed compared to that before treatment in the two groups (P<0.01,P<0.05). The symptom scores in the treatment group were significantly different from that in the control group after 3 d and 5 d treatments (P<0.01). Conclusion Acupuncture at extraordinary acupoints can effectively improve the symptoms in refractory central eructation.
