Geological Characteristics and Mineral Processing Technology of the Graphite Mine in Northern Core of Huangling Faulted Dome,Hubei Province

Abstract: Dongchong River graphite mine area is situated in the Quanyitang southern limb of Huangling faulted dome, which is in the mid-Hubei fault folding region of Yangtze paraplatform. Graphite mine belongs to the metamorphic-trans-form type mineral deposit,existing in lower member of schist and marble formation complex and the middle of upper sec-tion with rich alumina of Shuiyuesi group which is the rock series containing graphite. There are three industrial seamsⅡ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ,and sever industrial ore bodies. The types of ore are mica graphite schist,graphite mica schist and graph-ite biotite plagiogneiss. The main chemical compositions of ore are 55. 01% of SiO2 ,18. 27% of Al2 O3 ,7. 36% of TFe2 O3 , 6% of C,4. 15% of K2 O,1. 97% of MgO,and a small amount of CaO,Na2 O,TiO2 ,MnO. The main mineral compositions are quartz,mica( black mica and muscovite) ,graphite,feldspar and a little chlorite and pyrite. According to beneficiation tests for the ore,the mineral processing technology of graphite mine has been determined that one roughing,four regrind-ing and five cleaning,which provides a scientific geological basis for the development and utilization of the graphite mine.
