Abstract: On the basis of summarizing the geological and geothermal background conditions of the geothermal field in Wuhan city, combining the laboratory test results, the authors analyzed the characteristics of the main chemical composi-tion of the geothermal fluids, and discussed its formation mechanism. Research results show that the geothermal fluid be-longs to the kind of neutral-alkaline hard water, the hydrogenchemical types is HCO3-Ca,and the hydrochemical composi-tion has no obvious difference between it and the groundwater in adjacent areas;and the isotopic characteristics of geo-thermal fluids are similar to that of atmospheric precipitation. This geothermal fluids is mainly formed by the deep circu-lation of meteoric water, and then mixed with the shallow groundwater.
