Study of chloride ion concentration detection based on ion-selective electrodes

Issue:5 Journal:Journal of Beijing University of Chemical Technology(Natural Science Edition) Keyword:chloride ion; concentration detection; temperature compensation; ion-selective electrodes; Abstract:A device for the determination of chloride ion concentration in water has been fabricated using ion-selective electrodes and a STM32 micro control unit( MCU).In order to improve detection accuracy and reduce the impact of temperature fluctuations,a method of temperature compensation has been adopted and the equation linking chloride ion concentration with temperature compensation has been derived.The design and implementation of the software and hardware required by the detection system was successfully completed.Calibration experiments for the system were carried out and a calibration curve with a response factor of 99.71% was obtained.The detection system had good linearity in the chloride ion concentration range 10-5- 10-1mol/L.The experiments demonstrated the need for temperature compensation and verified the effectiveness of the temperature compensation equations derived.
