Abstract: Considering the mutual coupling effect between array units, a low ( 1/4 λL ) profile wide-band wide-angle scanning phased array radar antenna is designed based on meta-materi-als. Working in a bandwidth of 55%,average efficiency and active VSWR of the array are more than 87% and less than 2. 0 respectively,and a symmetric pattern with 3 dB beam width is better than 60o in the E/H-plane. A 6í8 array antenna is fabricated and measured, the test result shows that the antenna array has a good characteristic of wide-band wide-angle scanning. Bene-fiting from the simple structure, light weight and facility fabricating,the array has a great appli-cation value in phased array.
