Abstract: Objective To analyze the factors relevant to left ventricular mass index. Methods A total of 968 people underwent health examination was assigned into two groups. The people in group A(857cases)were with normal LVMI(male LVMI<125g/m~2,female LVMI<120g/m~2)and those in group B(111cases)were with high LVMI(male LVMI>125g/m~2,female LVMI>120g/m~2).The indicators of body mass index(BMI),systolic blood pressure(SBP),diastolic blood pressure(DBP),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),fasting blood glucose(FBG),creatinine(Cr),urea nitrogen(BUN),uric acid(UA),left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)were compared between two groups. Results The overweight rate of LVMI was lower in the people of 18 to 39 years old than that in those of 40 to 59 years old(P<0.01),which was higher in the people of ≥60 years old than that in those of 40 to 59 years old(P<0.01).The values of SBP,LDL-C,TC,TG and Cr were lower, but LVEF was higher,in group A than those in group B(P<0.01).Logistic regression analysis showed that essential hypertension and hyperlipidaemia were the independent risk factors for LVMI overweight(P<0.05).Conclusion LVMI is closely associated with essential hypertension and hyperlipidaemia.Attention should be paid to the influence of LVMI on cardiac function.
