Abstract: In order to study automatic height adjustment for shearer drum ,a simulated cutting ex‐periment device for shearer was built and the schematic diagram of the device was provided .One type of thin seam shearer was selected as prototype .The similarity criterions between model and prototype were established based on similarity theory ,and the correlative parameters of simulated spiral drum w ere determined .Picks arrangement on helical vanes and drum plate w ere accom‐plished .By using SolidWorks software ,the 3D models of the parts of the simulated spiral drum were established ,then the 3D models were assembled ,and the interference between parts was checked ,thus the 3D model of the simulated spiral drum was finished ,also laid the foundation for the design of simulated cutting experiment device for shearer .
