Abstract: Androgenetic alopecia( AGA) is a common disorder that has a negative impact on patients’ quality of life. The pathogenesis of AGA is the minimization of hair follicles upon dihydroxytestosterone( DHT). The Chinese Society of Dermatology proposed the guideline for diagnosis and treatment of androgenetic alopecia in 2014. The basic and specific classification was proposed to evaluate the type and severity of AGA. Oral finasteride and topical minoxidil are main medical treatments for male patients with good effects. In female patients, oral spirolactone or cyproterone and topical minoxidil are main medical treatments with moderate effectiveness. It is recommended that patients should start the treatment earlier and keep long-term treatment. Auto-hairgraft and wig / hairpiece could be used in patients who failed to respond to medical treatment.
