Abstract: The purpose of this article is to study the aerodynamic characteristics of a new High Altitude Long Endurance( HALE) Joined Wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle( JWUAV). The geometric aerodynamic shape has been designed according to mission requirements. Computational Fluid Dynamics( CFD) method w as employed to calculate the aerodynamic performance of the new JWUAV and the results w ere compared w ith the sensorcraft JWUAV. The conclusions indicated that the JWUAV has similar lift-drag performance as flying-w ing configuration,and similar static stability and good controllability as conventional layout. It can be a reference in design and study of the joined w ing aircraft in the future.
