Research on the Mental Health Status of the Grassroots Cadres after Yushu Earthquake

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the psychological status of grassroots cadres at different periods after an earthquake at Yushu. Methods: Psychological status of 97 cases of the grassroots cadres after Yushu earthquake in emergency period in October 2010,and follow- up after the reconstruction period in April 2014 were evaluated.Two step gradient screening method was used for the first evaluation screened with SRQ- 20 and PTSD- 7,the case of the SRQ- 20≥10 or PTSD- 7 ≥4 suited for the MINI diagnosis scale review. Design of psychological demand survey to investigate cadres’ psychological help information. Results: 47 cases( 58. 0%) of high- risk populations in emergency phase were screened up and 12 cases( 14. 8%) reached the disease diagnosis standard rechecked by mini diagnosis chart. 17cases( 26. 2%) of high- risk populations in reconstruction phase were screened up and 3. 1% reached the disease diagnosis standard rechecked by mini diagnosis chart. There was a higher psychological aid accessibility( 36. 9%) in reconstruction phase than the emergency period( 16. 9%).Conclusion: it is worthy for evaluating the mental health status of the grassroots cadres in Yushu earthquake.
