Abstract: Objective To observe the clinical efficacy on pelvic congestion syndrome treated with the combination of oral administration and external application of Chinese herbal medicine for activating qi and blood circulation. Methods Seventy - two outpatients and inpatients were randomized into two groups. In the treatment group,36 cases were treated with the combination of oral administration and external applica-tion of Chinese herbal medicine for activating qi and blood circulation, removing stasis and stopping pain. In the control group,36 cases were treated with oral administration of non - steroid anti - inflammatory agents and neuroregulation agents. The therapeutic situation was observed in the two groups. Results The total ef-fective rate was 91. 2% in the treatment group and was 71. 4% in the control group, indicating the significant difference in comparison(P ﹤ 0. 05). Regarding the five single symptoms, such as lower abdominal pain,lum-bosacral pain, dyspareunia, dysmenorrheal and irregular menstruation, the improvements in the first four symptoms were more obvious in the treatment group as compared with the control group, indicating the signifi-cant difference(P ﹤ 0. 05 or P ﹤ 0. 01). Conclusion The combination of oral administration and external application of Chinese herbal medicine for activating qi and blood circulation achieves the significant clinical efficacy on pelvic congestion syndrome.
