Abstract: Objective To analyze the occurrence features of adverse events following immunization (AEFI)in Meizhou city from 2010 to 2014, and evaluate the implementation of AEFl surveillance system and the safety of vaccines. Methods The AEFI data were collected through china information system for national immunization program (NIP), and the related indexes were analyzed by descriptive epidemiology. Results A total of 334 AEFI cases were reported in Meizhou city; among them 73 cases had abnormal reaction, involved with 25 kinds of vaccine. The reported rate was 3.50/10 0000(334/9 532 405). The abnormal reaction rate of DPT (DT)vaccine was the highest, accounted for 31.14%(104/334).AEFI occurred in less than 1-year-old accounted for 31.44%(105/334); AEFI occurred within 24 h after inoculation accounted for 87.43%(292/334). The general reaction accounted for 75.15%(251/334), followed by the abnormal reaction, accounted for 21.86%(73/334). Fever and swelling were the most common features in the clinical diagnosis, accounted for 64.37%(215/334), followed by allergic rash, accounted for 13.77%(46/334). Conclusion The sensitivity of AEFI surveillance system is high in Meizhou city. The safety of vaccines and the quality of immunization service are fine, but the report rate of AEFI is lower than that of Guangdong province, and needs to be further improve the sensitivity. The knowledge training of doctors should be strengthened and further improve the compensation mechanism of AEFI.
