Abstract: Lightly cross-linked amphoteric polyacrylamide( Am PAM) was synthesized by the aqueous solution copolymerization method using acrylamide( AM),2-methacryloxyethyl trimethyl ammonium chloride( DMC) and acrylic acid( AA) as monomers,N-methylolacrylamide(NMA) as molecular structure modification additive. The strengthening effect of Am PAM was also studied. The results showed that the optimal polymerization conditions were: n( AM) ∶ n( DMC) ∶ n( AA) = 8. 0∶ 1. 5∶ 0. 5,the mass fraction of monomer was 20%,the dosage of initiator was 0. 4%,the reaction temperature was 80℃,the reaction time was 5 h,the dosage of NMA was 3% respectively. Meanwhile,the strengthening effect of the lab-made Am PAM applied in paper was better than that of the commercial linear Am PAM products with the same addition.
