Abstract: Most of recent studies tend to correlate "interpretant", one of the essential elements in semiosis, with the openness and dynamics of peircean semiotics. It should not be overlooked that the other element, that is "object", also plays a vital role in maintaining the diversity and vitality of sign actions. This paper attempts to analyze the C.S. Peirce’s theory of object and its development, followed by its influences to the peircean semiotics.
