Abstract: Objective To study the effects of apigenin on the apoptosis of human bladder cancer cell line 5637.Methods 5637 cells were cultured with different concentrations of apigenin, the MTT assay was used to evaluate the cell inhibition rates.Apoptosis of 5637 cells was observed under a fluorescence microscope using Hoechst 33258 staining,5637 tumorigenicity was messaured by soft col-ony formation assay. Results Apigenin causes concentration -dependent inhibition of the proliferation of bladder cancer 5637 cells. 5637 cells treated with apigenin showed significant morphological changes of apoptosis, and the cell tumorigenicity was inhibited as api-genin concentration increased. Conclusion Apigenin can inhibit the proliferation and induce apoptosis of 5637 cells.
