An Automatic Calculation Method for the Triggering Strategy of the Capacitive Pulsed-Power Supply

Abstract: Based on Matlab platform,a fast solving method for the launch process of the electromagnetic railgun is proposed. By using this method,an automatic calculation method for the triggering strategy of the capacitive pulsed-power supply is then proposed, which possesses the advantages of both accuracy and applicability. The circuit model of the electromagnetic railgun system is firstly analyzed and the mathematical expressions of the relevant electrical and mechanical quantities are also given. Then the time discretization idea,the circuit decoupling idea and the specific implementation of the fast solving method are elaborated in detail.And the basic principle and the specific implementation of the automatic calculation method are also discussed.Finally,a typically representative system with 4 MJ initial energy is given. The feasibility and accuracy of these two methods are proven through the comparison with the Simplorer simulation results which are confirmed to be compliant with the real system. Results show that the rail current waveform is approximate to a flat wave under the action of the triggering strategy acquired from the automatic calculation method,and the relative error of the armature launch velocity between the Simplorer simulation result and the Matlab calculation result is within 3%.These results confirm the feasibility and accuracy of the above methods.
