Abstract: As far as"物相杂故曰文(variety of things means wen)"and"物一无文(Without variety, without wen)"are discussed, scholars generally unfold their interpretation on the basis of aesthetical"harmony". However, this paper attempts to star with more specific issue, and assume that wen is a beauty of interdeviation and interantithesis. Interdeviation means variation and discrimination, while interantithesis means relation and interaction. A so-called belle-letters must depend on these two skills for its tone, structure, aphorism and aura of style. Consequently, wen is both a structural concept of Chinese poetics and secret of writing skills. This paper is focused on the issue of"tone into wen"and Prof. Qian Zhongshu’s neglect as well as how the skills of interdeviation and ineterantithesis are applied to an essay and its passages.
