Abstract: In view of ritual communication and identity theory,paying more attention on Olympic ritual can construct its function during national identity construction. It is found that national discourse can be constructed through ritual symbols; country’s community imagination can be shaped through cultural performances and narrative form of "war"and "hero"; national emotions can be transmitted by producing "collective carnival"and emotional experience of atmosphere of crisis. The study also points out that national identity constructed by Olympic Games and ritual communication still has some limitations.
