Abstract: Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the diagnosis and therapeutic strategy for spontaneous isolated superior mesenteric artery dissection(SISMAD). Methods The clinical data of 15 patients with SISMAD admitted in Beijing Friendship Hospital from January 2011 to January 2015,were retrospectively analyzed. All patients included 13 cases of male, female in 2 cases, aged 41 - 77 years with a mean of 53 years. 9 cases of patients had a history of hypertension,12 cases had a long history of smoking. 14 patients presented with abdominal pain. Results All patients underwent abdominal enhanced CT examination,14 cases confirmed by enhanced CT scan. The diagnostic accurate rate of CT was 93. 3%(14 / 15). There are 7 cases of patients with mesenteric angiography examination,DSA diagnostic rate was 100%(7 / 7). According to clinical classification,7 cases with simple type underwent conservative treatment,8 cases with complicated type underwent conserva-tive management(1 / 8),endovascular therapy(4 / 8)and surgical treatment(3 / 8). All patients were discharged from hospital after eating nor-mally. No serious complications occurred and patients dead during the perioperative period. Conclusion Enhanced CT scan can be used as the preferred method of SISMAD. Clinical classification in practicability, can guide SISMAD treatment plan formulation.
