The Prediction Algorithm for the Arrival Time of Electromechanical Waves Based on Structural Frame Model of Power Networks

Abstract: Electromechanical wave theory provides new approach for the analysis and control of disturbance, in which the arrival time of electromechanical wave is the vital information. In this paper, the spatial heterogeneity of propagation velocity of electromechanical wave is depicted by transmission lines. According to the constant velocity characteristic of segment in the structural frame model of power networks, the weighted undirected graph of structural frame model as well as the adjacent matrix based on the disturbance propagation time in segments is formulated. Then, the Dijkstra algorithm based shortest path searching method for the arrival time of electromechanical wave is proposed. Moreover, effect factors of the measured arrival time of electromechanical wave are analyzed. At last, the proposed prediction algorithm is verified by comparing with PSD-BPA simulations.
