Fault Section Locating Method Based on Zero Sequence Impedance Model Fault Feature in Distribution Network with Distributed Generators

Abstract: Fault section locating is the basis of accurate fault location in distribution networks, and plays an important role in restoring power supply and reducing economic loss. The introduction of distributed generation(DG) increases the difficulty of fault section locating. Therefore, this paper proposes a new algorithm for fault location in distribution network with DG based on measurement data of the power end. On the basis of zero sequence impedance models of the distribution network with DG, this method searches the fault associated nodes to locate the fault section according to the characteristics of fault features at fault points. Simulation results show that the proposed method has advantages of high accuracy, strong robustness and fast calculation speed.
