Abstract: Objective:To explore the effect of self management education on the prevention of patients with deep venous thrombosis after esophageal cancer surgery.Methods:80 patients with esophageal cancer surgery were selected. They were randomly divided into the two groups.Patients in the control group received conventional health education.Patients in the observation group received self-management education on the basis of the control group. We observed the awareness rate of disease knowledge, health belief formation rate, the implementation rate of health behavior, the rate of compliance and the rate of deep venous thrombosis of the two groups of patients. Results:The awareness rate of disease knowledge, health belief formation rate, the implementation rate of health behavior and the rate of compliance of the observation group were significantly better than those of the control group. The incidence of deep venous thrombosis in the observation group was 2.5% lower than that in the control group of 27.5%.The differences between the two groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Self management education can effectively improve the self-management and compliance of postoperative deep venous thrombosis prevention in patients with esophageal cancer, and it has important effect on reducing deep venous thrombosis.
