Abstract: The novel Lord Jim tells the story of Jim in various complex narrative focuses, which results in a variety of narrative voices, bringing about the most outstanding narrative characteristic of this novel. The various narrative voices can be told from inner focus and outer focus, while the former can be further divided into nonprotagonist voice and protagonist voice, and the latter can be further divided into almighty narrative voice and limited narrative voice. These varied narrative voices reflect Conrad, the writer’s consideration in portraying the character Jim: he hoped to leave different voices to readers so that readers can tell the voices by themselves, without being confined to one single world view and one single value view, and this represents exactly Conrad’s counter-traditional writing style.
