Abstract: Objective To design and develop a new surgical instrument,tracheal distracting clamp,to avoid and prevent the slippage of devices and burst of tracheal tube balloon in conventional tracheotomy. Methods The distracting clamp was designed and applied in 156 patients who underw ent tracheotomy. Results During all operations,no device slippage or balloon burst occurred. Conclusion The tracheal distracting clamp can safeguard the smooth progress of tracheotomy by preventing tracheal incision complications.
