Epidemiological analysis of imported dengue fever in Huanggang City

Abstract: Objective To analyze the epidemiological characteristics of 8 imported cases in our city,and provide practical experiences for prevention and control measures of dengue fever. Methods A retrospective analysis was made on 8 cases of data by descriptive epidemiology. Results All 8 cases were imported cases. There were 3 cases derived from Indonesia,4 cases from Guangdong Province and 1 cases from Hainan Province among all 8 patients. All the cases occurred from July to October. The male to female ratio was 3∶ 1. The age of onset was 24 to 61,and the occupational structure dominated by migrant workers. The average intervals from onset to diagnosis were 5. 63 days. There were 50. 0% patients( 4 cases) by the village or township level medical institutions by referral to the municipal or provincial medical institutions was confirmed. Conclusions The key measures to prevent the epidemic of imported dengue fever is to strengthen the entry and exit port quarantine and to increase the awareness of the basic medical and health institutions on dengue fever.
