Abstract: The finger length ratios(FLRs)are the ratios of finger(toe)length of the human or animal. It have been suggested by some scientists that the ratio of two digits in particular,2D∶4D(index finger:ring finger),is proposed as a biomarker reflecting prenatal androgen effects(PAE).In recent decades the study of human FLRs were developed rapidly at abroad. It has been involved in the regulation of genes, handedness, heart disease, breast cancer, personality traits, asymmetry, athletic ability, autism and so on.Further,FLRs sex differences can be found in other mammals such as the mouse, baboon, gorilla and chimpanzee,as well as the zebra finch. This paper does a review of these studies in animals.
