A Study on Status and Social Expectations of Preschool Education Cost-sharing

Abstract: Based on the 2000—2012 funding for education in China Statistical Yearbook data analysis,with Jiangsu Province’s( one of the most developed areas in preschool education) survey data in 2010 and 2011,we can find that our country’s investment in preschool education are increasing. But compared with OECD member countries and the other three"BRIC"countries,our country’s preschool financial investment to GDP ratio and per student expenditures are still very low.Increase preschool education financial investment is a prerequisite and improve preschool education cost sharing is the effective implementation. The article based on the analysis about preschool education cost sharing for 2000—2012 of China Statistical Yearbook and the research group extracted12 provinces 2 358 principal and 1 132 parents in Shanghai,in order to reflect the disparity gap between the reality of preschool education cost sharing and the social expectations. The public expect the cost sharing between all levels of government become more reasonable,and hope that the government will bear more than 50% share so that can gradually reduce the burden on families.
