Abstract: Wang Yingxu,a writer in Qing Dynasty, revised The Peach Blossom Fan,and the only copy of it is now kept in Shangdong Library. Pages of prologue, dedication, reasons for deletion or modification, and postscript can be found at the beginning or the end of his work. As Wang loathed Zuo Liangyu but adored Shi Kefa, the revision of the play depended largely on the writer’s feelings and judgments. He showed quite a critical and negative attitude towards Zuo Liangyu while defending a positive image of Shi Kefa. Changes were made in some important plots as well as in some details. Wang Yingxu’s revision of The Peach Blossom Fan conveys strong personal feelings and emotions, and for this reason it became a special exception in the reception history of the play.
