Rutting Study of Airport Asphalt Overlay on Old Cement Concrete Pavement

Abstract: Rut is one of the major diseases of asphalt pavement,current study to rut has been focusing on the road transport sector,and few studies involve in the airport asphalt pavement.In this article the creep model is taken as the basis,ABAQUS finite element software is used to study the airport cement concrete pavement asphalt overlay′s tread variation with time at different temperatures,loads and thickness,the pavement life is calculated when it achieves the conservation criteria.The time lateral ridge rut occurs and the size are studied.The results show that most rut occurs in the pre-stage,accounting for more than half of the total,and rut increases with the increase of temperature,load and thickness.Temperature is the most significant factor to rut life,and the life expectancy at 40 ℃is only 5% of that under 50 ℃.Rut forms at different times and different conditions can be predicated,thereby dynamic maintenance can be performed.
