Abstract: Chinese landscape painting is an important category of Chinese art ,closely linked with Chinese culture .Chi-nese humanism and sentiments are shown in Chinese landscape paintings ,and figures in the paintings play a key role .This study analyzes the significance of figures in Chinese landscape painting’s transition from traditional style to modern style by summing up the characteristics of figures in Chinese landscape paintings over different times as well as modern artists’ experience in this field .Finally ,the writer shares his views on how modern Chinese landscape painter paint figures in land-scape paintings .
