Abstract: Objective To analyze influencing factors of average length of stay with questionnaires from the perspective of clinical departments and to provide suggestions for the optimization of hospital medical management system of reasonably shortening average length of stay (ALOS). Methods Average length of stay questionnaire (self-administered questionnaire) designed by a Cancer Hospital was adopted to investigate 22 clinical departments in the hospital.Results Overall, the clinical departments thought that auxiliary examination report turnaround time, treatment of concomitant diseases at admission, post-treatment complications were the significant influencing factors of the average length of stay before the treatment, during the treatment and after the treatment respectively. However, the opinions differed in department of surgical oncology, medical oncology and radiotherapy.Conclusion Results of average length of stay questionnaire provided some good suggestions and new thinking for identification of influencing factors of ALOS and optimization of hospital medical management system of reasonably shortening ALOS.
