Abstract: Objective To investigate tobacco-related practice,knowledge,and analyze related factors among the art academy students.Methods In May 2012,1701 students from art academy in Guangzhou were selected and investigated by stratified cluster random sampling.Describe tobacco-related knowledge,attitudes,practice,and analyze the difference between smokers and non-smokers and influencing factors of smoking behaviors.Results The score of tobacco-related knowl-edge was 16 (aggregate score was 23).The awareness rate of that quit smoking was the earlier,the better was the highest (85.19%,1449 /1701 ), and the rate was higher in non-smokers (86.76%, 1304 /1503 ) than that in smokers (73.23%,145 /198) (P <0.01 ).The awareness rate about smoking could cause rough skin in college students was 70.78% (1204 /1701 ), and the rate was higher in non-smokers (72.39%, 1088 /1503 ) than that in smokers (58.59%,116 /198)(P <0.01).The awareness rate about passive smoking could cause lung cancer in college students was 75.84% (1290 /1701 ),and the rate was higher in non-smokers (77.58%,1166 /1503 ) than that in smokers (62.63%,124 /198)(P <0.01).The awareness rate about Framework Convention on Tobacco Control in college students was 25.51% (434 /1701 ).Among non-smokers,85.10% (1279 /1503) considered that government should strengthen smoking control.The percent was higher than that in smokers (64.65%,128 /198)(P <0.01).The prevalence of begin-ner and current smokers was 31.92% (543 /1701)and 11.64% (198 /1701).Among college students with higher living expenses per mouth in school,the prevalence of beginner smokers (P <0.05)and current smokers (P <0.01)was high-er.The influencing factors in males college students included monthly household income,living expenses per mouth in school,residence,alcohol intake,dietary habits, (all P values <0.05).For female college students,the factors com-prised of living expenses per mouth in school and alcohol intake (all P values <0.05).Conclusion The awareness of to-bacco-related knowledge was not high generally among art academy students,but the awareness was significantly higher in non-smokers than that of smokers.The prevalence of smokers was higher,and intervention measures about influencing factors related to smoking behaviors should be implemented to control smoking.
