Abstract: The color of industrial wastewater can produce interference on determination of ammonia nitrogen. Especially when the concentration of ammonia nitrogen is relatively low, this factor has a significant impact on the determination results,so the water samples need to be pretreated. The distillation method was used to pretreat the water samples, and the influence of pretreated water samples on determination of ammonia nitrogen was analyzed. The results of the orthogonal experiment showed that the pH value of pretreated water samples was the major influence factor during the determination of ammonia nitrogen, while the influence of reaction temperature and color reaction time were second. The single factor experiments showed that the p H value of pretreated water samples by distillation method should be adjusted to 9. 0 to 9. 5,the reaction time should be controlled at 10 to 30 min,the reaction temperature should be controlled at 20 ℃,which could ensure the accuracy of determination results.
